Default Temperature Control Display Problem!

i have a 1996 Audi A4, I am having problems with the tempeture control display. The red back to the display lights up but the numbers and letter don't come up. But they do when I when i press the control buttons (the air and heating still works). and sometimes the display (lights and all) black and out and come back on. Now does this sound like the display is starting to or does this sound like an electrical issue?

Default Sounds like display. I would say search, but its not working. I think B5Davem,

had some experience with this so maybe he will be able to help.

Default I had all sorts of display weirdness for a week before my car died on me

Turned out all of my wiring inside the engine compartment was completely corroded, and needed replacing. Took a week.

Default The 1996 climate control unit is a special beast due to the type of AC compressor

the 96's had. If you replace it be very careful about matching part numbers.

Default lol...hmmm

also a 96 a4 qm with 135k miles mine has been like that for ohhh about 5-6 years... never really bothered me ..if i am cold i turn it up.. and it heats up... if i am hot i turn it down... and it cools off.. its only a display issue... i read a fix on it once and tried to figure it out pulled the part and everything but all my fuses were working and could not figure it out... oh well ... everything else works so i just lived with it..
