Default Snagged some wheels from the classified, SSR GT10 18x8.5 et37...

for $75 a piece. They have one small bend on one wheel but hold air fine and dont vibrate.

They need to have the clear stripped, polished and re-cleared. I welcome any pointers on how to do it.

They also came with an added surprise. I guess i will sell them:

Default Nice pick up. I just got done refinishing my GT3's, so I can give you a few tips. If there isn't

any curb rash on the lips, then you can do as roger suggested: just repolish them. But if there is curbage that you'd like to remove, then you'll have to do a decent amount of sanding. Either way, you will need to remove the clear with either a stripped (I use a rattle can of paint thinner, but have also used other paint strippers in the past) or you could start of with a low-ish grit of sandpaper. If you DO have curbage, then sanding through the clearcoat would cut down on the number of steps, since you would no longer have to use the paint stripper.

For sand paper you'll need:
either 220 or 320 grit to smooth out the curbage
600 grit
800 grit
1000 grit
and 1500 grit (you can do another step with 2000 grit if you'd like)

All steps are to be WET sanded

After sanding, I start off with Eagle One Never Dull Wadding Polish. It comes in on cotton wads, and really works great, but takes a lot of elbow grease. I do about three steps of applying and buffing with this stuff, and it typically begins to bring out the mirror shine very well. After than, I use Mothers Billet Aluminum Polish, which will REALLY bring out the polished look that we all covet. I typically do another 3 coats of that.

Finally, after all the polishing, you could pay to get them professionally re-cleared (which is the best option), or you could use wheel wax. I've got AutoBahn Swissvax (detailers apparently swear by it), and it is excellent stuff. 3 coats of that, and it should protect the lips for a while.

Heres my finished product:

Hope this helps. Its not hard, but it does take a decent amount of time
