Default Here is what I found out. AEB 1.8T, not reverse thread. JMBlur answer:

on the 1.8T, you can take the whole assembly off (fan/clutch/pulley) but to get it out of the car you will have to find a way to remove either the fan from the clutch, or the clutch from the pulley. That is on the 1.8T, now for the 2.8L I am not sure what it takes.

Default Thanks! Will have to take a look myself, haven't had a chance yet to investigate

always sucks when something else breaks before you even get to drive the car after the last fix!

Default No problem. You had the drive shaft issue correct?

I know what you mean but it is a good thing to wait before driving with a bad fan clutch. I ended up replacing 2 fans, dents in my hood and replacing 1 radiator (I got really lucky the second didnt get destroyed).

Default Dude? Did you like, break off all your fan blades?

That would be one way to "make a little room"

Default Nope, fan clutch was seized and the plastic fan couldnt handle high RPM's and blew apart.

That was a new one as well.

Default Yeah, that's me. Was yours slipping to start, or did it seize completely?

Mine appears to be working but slipping... guess I should probably fix it sooner rather than later though!
