Rear wheel bearing toast in 5 months??
My passenger's side rear wheel bearing finally got too loud that I couldn't take it anymore in November of last year. I had an indie shop with a good reputation do the work. Now, five months later, the same bearing is getting loud and is heading towards replacement.
In the past five years, I've replaced this same bearing twice but now, coming up on a third time only 5 months later I'm wondering if anything else could be contributing to its quick death?
Could there be a contributing factor? Could it be a bad part? Should I find a new mechanic? Or is this expected given the age of the car (9+ years)?
Thanks,
David

Either Indy shop didnt do it 100% correct or its just the fact the wheel bearings like to randomly go on our cars.
BTW: I see you have a K04 Tip. Mind if I ask you some questions later?

Nothing - tip trans is stock and I have no problems in 158k mi (inside)
Car is my daily driver - I have never tracked it so I don't drive terribly hard all the time. But it does get put through the paces as 3.5 years ago I changed jobs and drive 25- 30k miles/year.
Earely on I called 2Bennet about the trans and they said don't do it - they have a stock Tip with GTRS so they really don't think that tranny mods were required. I never did tip chip or L10 valve body or anything.
I've never had a tranny issue but have had fluid flushed every year and a half or so for the past 3 years (so twice).

Just replaced my right rear wheel bearing today. It was toast. I am happy to have my hearing back. That corner has been replace now 6 times in the last 5 years. I think it is the pot holes in Chicago. It always fails after the roads turn to poo.
As far as the k04 and the tip trans, I have the level ten valve body and the tip chip. The car has been faultless in that department.
