Add me to the list... interesting at the variation in prices I've seen quoted in this thread. I've a '99 A4, and the costs from my local dealer (Canadian) were $700 parts & about $300 labour.

Mine just went out -- very frustrating
I have a 99 A4 with about 90k miles.
After about 10-15 mintues of driving the ABS and Brake Light comes on.
The dealer in Manhattan quotes me price of $1,350 for the part plus 2 hours of labor at $115 an hour.
I found a guy in Brooklyn who is replacing it with a used part at $500 and $165 in labor plus tax.
Needless to say I am not happy to have to deal with this. My wife uses the vehicle for work so she is out of a car for several days.
I went to the link of above and explained this appears to be a common problem. I asked if there were plans for reimbursement. I think Audi should stand by their work--it looks very poorly when there is such a wide spread and expensive problem.

Mine too. Went off about 8 months back (~98K). Have been driving with it shot. The ABS is pretty much off (found out about the hard way...brakes locked up in the snow last month).
Does it affect the AWD (I read that Quattro depends on ABS to work well)? Talked to my mechanic who also owns an A4. He says it shouldn't be affected. Audi needs to do better QC on their electrical stuff. This car seems plagued by all sorts of problems.

Re: ABS Computer Failure!! another addition to the list!
My 00 A4 1.8T Quattro recently started with the flashing ABS and Brake light. I came here to research it. I love Audi but have had increasing issues with it since 50k miles and it has had about 20k maintenance done on it since new. Im currently at 110k miles. I also need a new Cat Converter.

add me to the list. my ABS light and blinking brake lights came on at ~115K miles. This is on my 2000 A$(4) 1.8T.
Is it true that the rears will lock up on you? Also, is it ok to drive w/out the module?
