Part 2 of the Winter Brake upgrade: Bigger Brakes, again...
I've been running my Porsche brakes for some time now and have loved them. They are Evolution Motorsports Stage 3 Kit that uses Porsche 996 4 piston Calipers with 321mm x 30mm S4 spec rotors. Evo MS doesn't make this kit anymore, but it's better than ECS Tuning's Stage 1 and 2 kits because of it's better monobloc caliper, large brake pad availability, and ability to source cheap S4 rotors when on a budget ($50 and up a piece last time I checked).
Recently however I came across a brake kit in good shape using the slightly larger 993 Twin Turbo/GT3 calipers, commonly called the "Big Reds". While the rotor is only 1 mm larger and 2 mm thicker, it's 2 piece design will drive up my replacement costs considerably. Stupid I know but I'll look into 1 piece solutions down the road.
So here are some pics, the new calipers cleaned up real well after about 30 minutes each. I'm selling my Porsche Big Brake kit all inclusive with 2 sets of pads if anyone is interested. Turn-key big brakes!

Side by side comparo... both have easy to swap pad setups for the track, etc.

the 996s are a lil bit bigger than the boxster calipers, correct?
newbie I know.
At the temptations... but alas, I think teh boxsters are probably more than enough caliper for my 4000... lol.

I see what you did there...
Those are nice calipers but I won't touch anything made by ECS. This time round I did my own 320x30mm system using the 996 caliper and a rotor with 252 pillars rather than 44 radial vanes like the B5 S4 rotor. My test assembly also required the use of taller and lighter hubs and some custom brackets so I'm working with Apikol on a bracket design... actually the design is done I just need to approve it.

My rotors look like this.

Not a fan of ECS stuff either, especially the 2 piece rotors. Going to look at other rotors that fit
down the road... Even the S4 rotor seems very close, just not as wide, going to test fit it tonight. Let me know if you make your setup available!
