After the 06C came the 06E... those are 24v
06C is AVK/BGN 3.0L and there were smaller displacement variants... last of the 30v engines.
06E is the "3.2" which is really 3.123L and also has smaller displacement variants. The later variants of this engine family have valve lift on the intake cams.

I don't know how you get from those symptoms to a bad oil pump.
If it was the pump you'd get the low oil pressure light, not a coolant light. I'd put a oil pressure gauge on it to verify your oil pressure first. And driving it a short distance wouldn't necessarily cause the engine to quit unless something else is going on. I am working on a low oil pressure issue with my 1.8T right now.
