Hello all, I just picked up a 2001 A4 1.8T w/5 speed to join our stable. It will be used mostly by me for daily driving. And my daughter gets her license this Dec. so it is going to be her first car by the spring time. Funny thing about our stable: they are ALL 2001 model year Audis! allroad, S4 stage 3, and now the A4.

anyway, car has 124k, 5 speed, 1.8T, interior speakers are shot, radio is missing buttons, needs brakes, and the front axel boots are worn, but not clicking. Clutch has great bite and suspension is tight. Timing belt and water pump done about 12k ago, recently had secondary air pump changed, a bunch of vacuum lines replaced, and a minor tune up. This is all in writing and I spoke to the shop that did the work. Seems like a reputable shop. They actually had some nice cars there: Ferrari Dino and an F430!!!!

I paid $3,400 for it. Boots and brakes will be done this weekend. I have a couple of questions regarding this car:
1. Which HP engine do I have? I believe there are two with ~20HP difference.
2. At this mileage and maintenance done, it is safe to chip it?
3. I think I got a good deal, what do you guys think?

Great deal and your 2001 came with 170hp. If the engine has good compression there is no reason not to chip it.

thanks for the info. Chip and exhaust will come in the spring. For the immediate future: brakes, axels, and sound system overhaul.

This car came with manual front seats. If I can source a set of power seats, are the plugs already in the car?
