Why do you have an 06A adjustable cam gear on the head if your running a 058 block?

You mean the exacty same one BobQ sold to Rob which then had to buy a Autotech cam gear because he also owned a 058. He then tried to contact Bob about the issue and Bob would never answer or call him back. He ended up getting the Autotech cam hear from 034 which is the correct one.

The one on the bottom is what Rob got from Bob which is the 06A/06B cam gear, the top one is the he had to buy which is for the 058 block.

Picture from Rob's face book page.

It's just BS that Bob wont even call me back. Thanks 034 for getting me the correct sprocket...
The one you have is what 034 has on their site listed for the 06A/06B.

Will fit all Mk4 and B5/B6 engines with 06A/B style motor.
Exactly why I asked, I do know a little about this stuff. lol

Looks like your going to have to buy a 2nd cam gear just like Rob did, good luck trying to get a hold of Bob seeing that he is pretty much blowing off everyone.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll check. I know now that there are Cat cam gears for 058, but I'm gonna double check which one I have. Thx.

I have onlyl seen one 1.8t cam gear listed on the CAT cam web site.

AUDI CTVW006 1.8/1.8T waterpump(ext) (-2000) 4 cyl-20v Mot.AEB,ADR
I know plenty of 06A A4 1.8t owners running that cam gear on their cars. Nearly all of the 058 owners I know of that run a cam gear run the Autotech.

Odd thing is the link you posted is to 034's inline 5 turbo 20 valve engine page.

You might just want to make sure you have the correct cam gear seeing that another 058 owner was giving the wrong one by Bob.

which uses the same camshaft gear as the AEB / ADR / AJL / 9A / PL / ABF / KR / ADU/ AAN etc. etc
CAT makes a camshaft gear that works with the 058 motor. Ruben measure the offset for me before you install it and I will tell you what model you have.

yes Issam I know the 058 uses the same one, I have been runinng a Techtonics Tuning 16 valve cam gear on my A4 1.8t since 2003

Just found it odd that 034 lists the 06A CAT cam gear and the Autotech 058 cam gear on their 1.8t engine page but not the 058 CAT cam gear. It's not likely 1.8t owners are going to look on the inline 5 engine page looking for parts.

I just try to stay away from the CAT products as much as possible. lol

Last thing I would want is for the OP to have the wrong cam gear and end up destroying all his hard work.

Ok. So I installed the timing belt just to see if I would be off because of the CAT Cam Gear and it seems that I'm good to go. Everything lined up the way it suppose to.

I have a quick question and I was hoping someone can help me. I'm going to install this gear that connects to the IM shaft. Do I have to put grease? Are these the only 2 parts or am I missing something?

You do know the Fluidamper is designed for the 06A that uses 1 belt to run or are you mounting a 2nd pulley on it like you have in one of your other pics?

Just wondering if that is the solution to running the Fluidamper on the 058. I know another 058 owner that put one on his car and ended up shifting some things around and modified a belt to make it work.
