Milltek or LaBree HFC dyno results?
Trying to decide between the LaBree 400 cell ceramic substrate HFC ($260) and the Milltek 200 cell metallic substrate HFC ($799).
My understanding is that people are using both and neither causes a CEL. Stratmosphere apparently states that their HFC will keep the car emissions legal while LaBree apparently states that it will not (I spoke with both on the phone).
So perhaps retaining emissions standards is worth an additional $540 ... not sure about that yet. However, what sort of impact on HP & torque can one expect with either?
I came across this site with dyno results for a B7 A4 with the Milltek HFC and both torque and HP are lower than stock. I certainly don't want to plunk down $799 and see a degradation in performance.
Does anyone have any dyno results for either the Milltek or LaBree HFC on a B5 A4?

B7 A4 Dyno w/ Milltek-HJS High-Flow Catalytic Converter

I'm no expert, but I'd think peak torque would be a bit lowered due to flow. Peak isn't everything
you have to look at the entire power curve. It will most certainly give you more power up top because of the flow and I've noticed less lag with my HFC as well.
No CELs, though. Passing inspection is easy for me since they only do an OBD-II check and don't bother with a sniffer in my county.

I have the miltek HFC, the performance gain is as large as w/ a cat back...
With th e miltek HFC, the turbo spools much earlier and faster, and power carries much later in the rpm as well as peak torque happening later.
The labree uses a cheap crappy cat substriaght, like what you get at auto zone for 99$. The miltek cat uses the best euro metal substraights, I have been told they are "wrc cats". There is no possible way the Labree one can make the same difference as the miltek.
If you can not pass emissions with the labree why bother. Seriously why spend 260$ when you could just buy a test pipe for 150$.
so what you should be thinking is should you buy a test pipe or the HFC. Obviously I think the cat is the way to go because that's what I chose. I do not regret the 700$ I spent on it (prices have gone up). If you don't car about polluting and passing emissions buy the test pipe.
