Ok so they aren't on an Audi.....

They are "ok" calipers for stock but if you want
to do repeated high speed stops you still need to
upgrade. You think really big brakes are pricey
for A4's? Most hardc0re vette guys drop 7K on
track brakes.

12.75" rotors on the front stock but only dual
piston calipers (decent calipers even though they
should have been at least 4 piston....)

And to keep it Audi related.. ECS's V2V Big Brake
kit looks absolutely sweet and for a little over
$1500.00 that's the way I am leaning right now.

Yummy!

The StopTech setups look sweet but too pricey for
me!

Default I must be looking in the wrong place :)

I saw prices in the 2K to $2500.00 for the Stop
Tech kits.

$300 saved though is $300 I can spend elsewhere.
I think the Porsche Bitschster calipers would be
good enough for my needs.

Default I just hope I am not annoying anyone with my posts..

I don't have a car and here I am "planning" mods
already.. I hope I don't get on anyone's nerves
and if I do I hope they tell me to "Shut Up Already!" =)

I have to say though I am a bit distrot over my
"Tiptronic in the 13's" post.. Even a modded tip
would be lucky to break 17's? Hell my Stratus
runs 17's stock.. (And that's so slow it isn't
even funny).. I thought it would be possible to
get a Tip at least into the 14's with some
reasonable mods...

I am going to have to go test drive another stick
A4 again and see if I can "live" with a stick..
The last one I drove wasn't a Quattro and I am
curious to see what a 2000 Quattro will pull like
with the stick and some agressive shifting

Default i think you'll be much happier with the stick

being a vette guy, i'm assuming you are an enthusiast. even if you drive the a4 in traffic, the clutch is so light it is really easy to drive in traffic. i'm moving to dc in about a month and a half. not a chance i'm going to trade up for an auto

Yes I am an enthusiast and don't get me wrong
because I absolutely LOVE tearing it up on the
twisties in my MN6...

Just last week I put a permanent grin on a friend's
face (We call it the "Corvette Grin") as we went
carving through the back country twisties..

Nothing like entering a gentle 108 degree sweeper
double clutch bring her down into second, apex at
redline come out of the turn and nail third head
back in the seat HARD and look up at the HUD and
already past 110

It's a blast.. But I am worried about driving one
up these steep hills every day.. My problem is a
lack of confidence on super steep hills when there
are stop lights right at the top of the hills
and people get within an INCH of your bumper..

I probably would be happier with the stick aside
from that peeve of mine. Like I said I am going
to have to go TD another stick but this time a
Quattro..

Default well the confidence will come with practice

in the mean time, if you need to, use the ebrake to keep from rolling backwards. thats how i was taught when i was learning how to drive/drive a stick

Default True enough..

I honestly don't have any problems pulling out on
steep hills in the Vette the top of my driveway
is steep (very) and I always stop at the top and
never have any problems there or anywhere else.

It's just that whole confidence issue moreso than
skill. No one ever showed me how to drive a stick
I just learned on my own and I do ok with it.

I have heard about the parking brake trick but
never tried it. I haven't been in any extremely
"tight" spots where I felt the need to do that.

One thing that will be nice about a stick A4
Quattro is that it won't be easy to spin the
tires. With the Vette if you get to throttle happy
it's very easy to roll the tires over and the
cops don't like that even if it was "accidental" =)
