Default manual transmission getting difficult to shift

'99 1.8Tqms getting difficult to shift at times. Original clutch, 153K miles. Would it help if I followed the DIY directions to change the transmission gear oil (located here:
https://www.audiworld.com/tech/misc.html)?

Thanks,

Maybe instead you should consider replacing the clutch.

Default i'd start buy checking shifter alignment

then those crap rubber bushings on the shifter arms, throw out bearing, throw out bearing arm, pressure plate...

clutch is more known to go when slipping occurs

Default In the Golf, yes. It was hard to shift from 4 to 2 when slowing down. After the clutch got replaced

it became much easier to shift in all directions.

Default nice, you only switched out the clutch? not the pressure plate, or the throw out bearing?

did they re-align the shifter at all, or take a look at the shifter forks?

you know what i'm getting at

Default They also replaced the main rear seal, shifter cable, and resurfaced the fly wheel.

You know too that the fluid is not what he should be after.

Default shifter cable? or clutch cable? the clutch cable in those golfs is known to be ****

same with mah gti

which probably made a larger difference then your clutch

Fluid makes more sense to me then changing out a clutch.

D'oh, clutch cable. Found the bill, it was binding. Rod and bushings for the shifter.
