symptoms of failing coolant cap?
I have a 1.8T, and it has had all manner of weird cooling problems lately- including sporadic leaks, random overheating, etc. How would I know if the culprit is a failing expansion tank cap?

There are devices to pressure test cooling caps; some mechanics have them and some might not charge you to test. On the other hand, for what this part costs and the fact that they do wear out, I'd just replace it as a matter of course: http://www.autohausaz.com/search/pro...n%20Tank%20Cap
