it's the pump in the trunk right??

Default it's the pump in the trunk right??

starts up the car and a grinding noise in the back that lasts for about a good 10-15 secs...then it stops.

bad pump?

The fuel pump is under the back seat.

yeah but when that goes does it make a metallic rattle noise?

Default turn the car to the accessory position, and listen for the fuel pump.

You will hear it priming. If it makes the noise during its prime then it is shot.
