Default Internally WG GT28 people - how did you clock the turbo?

My 28r has the WG mounted on the front of the compressor housing.. Unlike other turbos that use a bracket on the back with the bolts that tighten down the compressor housing. Using the front mounted position, there is no way to clock the turbo south. If I had a universal back mount I could easily clock the front clear of any WG getting in the way.

Have all you GT282-71r folks done this successfully with the front mounted WG?

Should be able to clock the housing if you take the WG actuator off, then just need to bolt it down in the new spot.

newp. there is no other spot. only one front mounting position.. looks like I need a universal mount so I can bolt to the back of the cold side.. and another WG.. what a pain!

Do you have any pics of the turbo?

I think you should take to a shop that does turbo installs. All turbos have to have clocking adjustments. I dont know what is involved with an internally wastegated turbo, but you should be able to undo bolts to turbine and clock cold side as needed, a shop may know what needs to be done w/int. WG. IME you will have more luck w/this than finding a universal mount (which I have never seen).

ATP carries universal mounts to bolt to the rear of the compressor housing. They use standard two bolt WG's. I'm able to clock the turbo just fine with the WG removed. In the new clocked position I am not able to bolt the current WG back on, since the only front mount position is now not aligned.

I'll have to get a rear bracket and weld my current WG on, or get a new WG that I can install with the universal piece.

Best solution would be to just have a machine shop make you a bracket that works to line up with the bolt holes on the housing in the new position, then just weld that bracket right to the WG actuator bracket. I am sure they can make you one that keeps the same tension on the actuator.

Yep, I have a guy coming over this afternoon to measure up cut and weld the Vband stuff so it can reach the HFC. I'm going to have him look at the WG bracket as well.

Purchased a universal WG mounting bracket from ATP turbo. Worked out perfectly. Email if you need exact part numbers.

With the OE bracket removed I was able to clock the turbo to any position I needed.
