Default NO FWD!! NO unequal length half shafts!!!

My very first car was a Mazda and I will never ever drive a front wheel drive car again. It was quite possibly one of the scariest, most dangerous cars that I have ever driven. I now have:

81 Volvo Coupe
90 Volvo Wagon
86 Porsche 911
96 Audi A4Q

Other than the Quattro they are all rear wheel drive and all 5 speeds! The ONLY way to ride. As half the adventure is just getting there!

you can't with a visual inspection. What will make it bad is looseness in the ball joint.

IIRC, TRE's show slack left to right and CA's show slack up and down?

Yes. Looseness will be very obvious if you wiggle the tire in teh right direction.

Pretty quick! I replaced the upper front control arms at 108k, and have just replaced the upper front left again at 118k due to ball joint wear. All replacement parts were Meyle, so should have been good quality. I'm hoping I was just unlucky and got a bad part.
