Default how fast can control arms die?

i just dropped my car off to get an alignment done. someone from the garage just called and said the techs found that i need to replace the fonrt-right tie-rod end, and the front-right, lower-rear ball joint.

i just did the entire front end control arm job on the car at 85,000 miles(now at 97,000 miles). how could these two parts have gone bad this fast? i had the car aligned after they were installed. the alignment has been off since i had a wheel bearing replaced in the rear(which is why i dropped it off), could the parts have worn out from driving unaligned for too long?

rrrrrrrrrr....... angry, waiting for the techs to get back from lunch to call me back.

Default Really depends on driving conditions, but I agree that's a little too fast.

Unless of course they're Meyle-branded. Then it's possible.

Default they're 'febi' brand. bought the whole kit from ecs.

was installed by myself and someone who works as a mechanic. he isn't a eurocar guy, but still, he works on cars for a living, and control arms aren't that complicated, so i'm basically sure they weren't installed wrong/poorly. it was done on the lift at his house with proffesional tools, etc.

and it drove fine until after the wheels bearing was changed(rear-left), at which point the steering was off center. no complaints about ride quaility, handling, etc, just off center steering wheel(and not wanting tires to wear down too fast).

Default I guess the only other thought I have then is they weren't torqued properly

i.e. under load or to proper lb-ft.

Default I would go to the shop and have them show you the parts that are bad on the car.

so shops would tell you something is wrong so that they can make some money on you.
