Default HELP: Ticking sound and now misfires

The engine used to make a noticeable ticking sound once warmed up. Now it started misfiring badly. It came on pretty fast; within 100 miles it went from rare hiccups to constantly misfiring throughout the RPM range. CEL came on and now I am reading P0300, P0302, P0304, i.e. random/multiple misfires in cylinders 2 and 4.

I've the searched forums. Unfortunately most threads end with guesses but no actual solutions. I'd very much like to hear from those who actually experienced these problems and had it fixed; so that causes were more or less pinpointed.

Thanks in advance.

I had a horrible time with my car misfiring, I switched from the bosch 3 prong plugs over to NGKBR6E plugs and it ran perfectly after that. I just upgraded my turbo switched to a colder plug the misfires came back, i pulled the plugs gapped them to .0245 and it hasnt missed since, and it is idling great . Now the ticking, could be your lifters are starting to wear out, I had an old timer tell me to run a couple quarts of transfluid in with the oil and idle the car for 30 minutes and drain it. I hear that works wonders at getting rid of gunk in the engine and ticks. I personally havent tried it though.
