Bent valves!
I performed the leak down test.
Made my own. Many of you will be happy to know, you do not need to use a hollowed and threaded spark plug, but can us a 3/8 compression fitting (brass)w/the nut removed. The threads are very similar to the sparkplug's thread, allowing the 1st three threads to fit nice and tight enough(just hand tightened). I may do a write up when I'm done. Cost me $55, all from home depot.
I found one cylinder to be leaking on the exhaust side w/ air coming out of the tailpipe, and then another cylinder to leaking through the intake side w/ air coming out of the tube next to the suction pump/pcv/y shaped fitting: which seemed strange to me seeing that the intake cam was only slightly off by one tooth.
both cams are out, and I am at TDC with locking pin in crank. I believe this should bring all the valves to a closed position, therefore establishing a leak to be on valves.
Anybody know where (online) to find valves to buy???
I guess I will remove the head and take it into the machine shop. I called them already they said bring it in, I would supply the valves, he would estimate cost to repair. I am assuming I simply need to remove the 8 head bolts and the exhaust manifold and it will pull up-and-out!?!

With the cams out and the intake and exhaust off you just have to remove the head bolts. Remember, you should use new head bolts when re-assembling!

Oh woops, missed the 30v mark, my bad - click here for pricing and details on 30v valvetrain. It is a completely different set of valves.

Hey guys,
took the head to the machine shop, replaced two exhaust valves in the same cylinder.
Started the job at about 6:30 Thursday night, worked through the night, finished this morning. cleared original codes. started up fine, with no codes the first time. I just have to put the bumper on now. it sounds very smooth.
i can't wait to drive it today. I'm driving up to my families camp for a memorial weekend camp and pig roast. Its about 2.5 hrs away. Nothing like a short road trip to test it for stress factors.
Thanks for help on this. I really appreciate the guidance and insight. Have a great weekend.

Awesome! Good news and a good follow up! Good luck on the drive, bring some oil and a toolkit for safe measure.
