Default Help me out Guys 97 A4 2.8 v6 fails leak down test Again

I have changed the head gaskets, twice, and still the same thing. When doing a leak down test, I get a rise in the level of coolant, in the overflow tank. Not just doing the leak down test, in one cylinder, but in all of them ! The coolant level will rise.

I looked in all the cylinders, and didnot see any cracks, and there is no white smoke, out of the exhaust. Also I had the heads planed.

Any help, ideas, is very much appreciated
Thanks

Default Tnx just asking for a little help The A4 cracked two overflow tanks

Before I decided to do the leak down test .I thought I was getting defective overflow tanks, they were under warranty.so I would just change them.

Default Thanks for answering the question.

OK, so when you apply pressure to the cylinder, any clinder, you get positive pressure in the cooling sytem?

And this happens in all cylinders, with the valves closed?

And you pulled the heads, had them magnafluxed, and new head gaskets?

Lemme know if I miss something. BTW, does the 2.8 have a oil cooler like the 1.8? And do you see any mixing of oil and coolaint in either the crankcase or the coolant jug?

Default Thanks for the help

"OK, so when you apply pressure to the cylinder, any clinder, you get positive pressure in the cooling sytem?"

Yes I get a rise in coolant level

"And this happens in all cylinders, with the valves closed?"

Yes this happends in all Cylinders valves are closed

"And you pulled the heads, had them magnafluxed, and new head gaskets?"

Had the heads Planed just a visible check for cracks, no magnaflux, new head gaskets

does the 2.8 have a oil cooler like the 1.8? And do you see any mixing of oil and coolaint in either the crankcase or the coolant jug?

The 2.8 has a water cooled, oil cooler oil filter fits right on top part#
078-117-021a I don't see the oil cooler for the 1.8 in etka

Thanks again

Default OK, I do not think the pressure is coming form above the pistons.

I think that somehow the pressure from what is getting past the rings into the crankcase is the issue.

I have actually been thinking about this overnight.. how much pressure do you get in the tank, and how fast does it build?

Any other coolant issues? Overheating, poor heat in the cabin, usage...

Oh, and where are you?
