Default HELP! '96 A4 is posessed...

Car won't run and I'm still only getting the fault codes 17825 and 17658 (P1417 & P1230 I think could be off) for "fuel signal too small-Cylinder 4" and "fuel level too low-Cylinder 4"...
brief on the car: these codes showed up when the car was first purchased, eventually outlasting a replaced fuel pump, sending unit and ECU among other minor things...
prognosis: car currently wont run, shut off in motion last operation just like when the fuel pump went out except that the car starts, seems to run and sound fine for only 3-5 seconds regardless of action when it just shuts off again.
I used the VAG/COM to check the fuel system and everything seems to be good so I'm at an impass...
Would it be more likely that the codes I am getting are misreads since it is a 96 or a sign of a long term issue? I thought maybe if so it could cause the car to act that way but I'm not certain of that...
And if so... would it be more likely that the source of those codes is specific to Cylinder 4 because of a faulty fuel injector or blown head gasket screwin up the fuel mixture?

...any pointers or past experiences similar would be a HUGE help... thank you!

Default "seems to run and sound fine for only 3-5 seconds regardless of action when it just shuts off again.

after this when you try to restart it..do you get another 3-5 seconds of it running good, or won't it even start? I am wondering because when you initially turn on the key the fuel relay will engage for like 1 second and then will shut off. Then it reengages when cranking. Once the car shuts off....try immediately restarting it. On another note, just switch #4 injector with another injector and see if the problem follows it.
