Hard Shifting - 3rd gear in 5sp Manual
My wife's 98 A4, with 230k miles, started having an intermittent problem of hard shifting to 3rd (only from 2nd) and also 1st from a standstill. Effort is much higher, but doesn't crunch or grind, and doesn't happen all the time.
I've tried searching the forums and found everything from "top up oil" to "need new trans" for similar problems - but nothing is a really good match to the problem. Any ideas?
