With the top 'air scoop', that's straight off of www.laughatrice.com

Default I guess that scoop goes well with the enormous wing.

the flames tie it all in too. Now it will blend well with other Civics on the road!

Well... minus the giant wing and ugly wheels, with just a plain color... it may actually look okay

Oh, so that means you think the roof airscoop should stay?

Default Looks like a shopping cart at my local Home Depot...

complete with the big black handle to push around. Whee!

Why would you need a roof intake? Why not just pop open the moonroom. And those wheels are so... 20 years ago...

Default Well... regarding scoops... [more inside]

It's really silly for people to have non-functioning scoops on their cars, since the scoops are, well, doing nothing.

But if you really think about it, a lot of stuff we put on our cars really has no function. The most obvious example is wheels. Many of us do not have the budget to try out different wheels and figure out what helps with the perfomance. Rather, we go by what looks great and what we can afford. I have FLIK Wasp 18's that I am almost certain slows my car down. Now that is worse than no function, heck, it decreases the function!

With that said, scoops, if placed in good locations and not adorned with exotic colors, can certainly enhance the line of the car to the driver's preference (notice I did not say to my preference). And unless the driver over-kill it and place 5 scoops on the hood or something ridiculously stupid (not unlike spinners, lol... in keeping with the wheel analogy), I don't really see anything wrong with it. Scoops can look good, and there is little wrong with trying to make your car look good. Yes, pure enthu. should make everything form over function, but for the rest of us, there should be some slack.

Now, am I saying we should all sport scoops? Of course not, I wouldn't do it to my car since I think it's silly on a A4. But if Joe next door wants one on his ride, I am not going to go ballistic on him either - it is his car, and a simple hood scoop does not hurt my head that much. But I realize that many of you would puke your guts out, and you certainly can make a very valid argument on why hood scoops are BAD.

I know we have been bombarded with rice stuff on a daily basis lately. But in light of underbody neon kits and 19' bling bling's, a small hood scoop seem relatively benigh to me (if at least installed correctly, worst is to have something that looks like it is glue on, then it is rice x 100000).
