Default H&R Coilovers....how low or high

I know this might have been discussed before but my searches went with out success.

I put H&R Street coilovers on my car about 8 months ago and now I have the car up for a brake job and new tires/rims. I was thinking about raising the car up a bit to improve the ride quality. Minnesota roads are killing me!

I noticed the top part of the rear spring must be making contact to the next rung beacause some of the plastic coating rubbing off. Is this normal?

Right now I have 2" of thread exposed in the rear and 2.5" in the front.

Question is if I raise the car will I improve ride experience but cause the spring rungs to make contact more often? Also will ride quality improve if I raise it?

The suspension is designed to ride at a certain height. I would not go lower than facotry suspension height.

The HR suspension is designed to be adjusted.

Where is the sweet spot for a good ride and improved handling?

Default Ride height can be adjusted. Supension geometry cannot.

The "sweet spot" would be the height that the car was designed to ride at from the factory. Sport suspension height would be the lower limit of that level.

Unfortunately I have no numbers for you. Maybe find someone with sport and get them to measure?

anything below 25.5" from fender to ground is too low, but you can definitely go lower than stock sport. some place in between is perfect, imo. sold 2 finger gap all around should be fine. don't have an *** dragger, have a little forward rake. put your weight as ballast in the driver seat, half tank of gas -- if you want it closer to when you're driving normally.

Jeff, I agree with you. 25.5"-25.75" is the sweet spot....Although I run mine much lower usually...around 24.25ish in the summer. I like the look, and I have learned how to drive it like that. I am like a living, breathing, walking road map of potholes and bumps...lol. Well, in my town at least.
