Help , No Spark
I purchased a 2001 A4 1.8T, Engine Code AWM from a friend who blew the motor. The car was running before he blew the head.
I didn an engine swap and the engine should be fine, but Im getting no spark. The coils are reading almost 4k ohms. The wiring harness is showing 12v on the plugs for the coil packs. I swapped the cam position sensor and the engine speed sensor off the old motor since I wasnt sure if the old ones were working.
I am getting no check engine codes unless I plugged the Engine speed sensor or something else. Everything on the wire harness is plugged in and all the fuses are good.
Do you think the ECU is toasted? Its giving me codes when I try unpluggin a sensor.
Why would I be getting no spark?
Does anyone want to try my ECU in their car, Im willing to drive anywhere in Massachusetts and New Hampshire to try an ECU out.
I opened the ECU case and there was no burnt componets.
Thanks ahead of time.

turn the key to on but do not start... do you see a check engine light?
if not, then your ECU is not working
if you do, then it is something else. Are the coilpack ground wires attached to the engine?

So whats next,
VAG-Com I guess
or test the ECU.
Engine speed sensor is testing at 951 ohms which seems good.
I double checked everything twice. I think its time for the good olde carburator and distributor.
