Flashing oil light during idle after 30min freeway drive

Really? How is that? Same bypass setting, ADBV and flow rates, so, how does it cause low OP?
So, are you saying every use of an aftermarket filter will necessiarly cause a low OP reading? I have yet to have a filter cause low OP so I am curious as to your analysis on this. I just took a Fram 2870A off a previously-sludged 1.8t that was on for a year w/ Auto-Rx. I've used Puralator and Wix too. Never a low OP light.

No analysis, just experience.
A friend's Jetta always went to the dealer for oil but went to a fast change place and they used some popular brand. He got a light the next day. We narrowed it down to that event and changed back to OEM and the light was fine. A tech later agreed that this has happened before. Maybe its a particular brand but why not just get it from Audi or Mann? They aren't that much.

Impossible unless it was the wrong filter.Youre saying correct in-spec filter will cause low OP?How?
Fram 2870A
Puralator 20232
Will these filters cause low OP and how? I've used dozens of these filters on 1.8t and never had an OP problem and would not expect one because they have all the correct attributes.
At first we were discussing the Audi 1.8t and then you told a story about a Jetta which have a known defective and recalled OP sensor. Kinda hard to follow. Did you take any actual OP readings?

Remove oil pan pronto!
After an OK check of the oil pressure sending unit, the next step is to drop the oil pan and check the pickup screen. Chances are very high that the screen is significantly clogged. If thats the case, remove the pick up tube/screen and clean the oil pan and screen. There is NO need to replace the oil pump here, despite what anybody will tell you. The total job averages 4 labor hours plus oil pan sealant, oil, oil filter and a couple of cans of brake/carb cleaner.

Just the messanger. Yes my exp was with a Jetta. The tech added the larger scope.
You didnt answer my question. Why bother with something else when the factory filters are fine and cheap.
Dude, keep using your filters. I won't think less of you, really.

I'm not the one making outrageous claims. Is BOSCH Premium ok?Same as STP, made by Champion Labs.
As for using/not using "oem" filters, the reason I don't always is that I don't NEED to because I KNOW there is little, if any difference. I just bought a bunch of Advance Auto filters @ 2:1 price, came out to under $2 each ...they are Puralators. I guess when you do as many oil services as I do, it's not always convenient or cost/effective to look for Mann or Mahle or BOSCH or whatever the current flavour of oem filter is. No *need* to look for them either. In fact, WIX (Napa Gold) is likely the best filter made...unless you say different...after all, that tech might be right...about something....without seeing or testing the Jetta....with the deffective sensor....which might mean something....about 1.8ts...maybe...because you don't even own one. So, what some tech might have said concerning your friend's Jetta, which he or she didn't even work on, about some unknown filter is applicable across-the-board to all aftermarket filters on 1.8ts without any further explaination. You crack me up. You should just delete your post.
