I've got my snow tires from my GTI. According to the miata.net calculator, the speedometer will be off by 1.2% (60mph will actually be 59.3mph), which doesn't seem bad to me.

Myth: Wide tires provide better traction under all weather conditions. In fact, putting oversize snow tires on a car delivers better snow traction.
Fact: The opposite is actually true. Wide tires tend to "float" on deep snow, and the tread lugs never have a chance to "dig" through to the road surface to gain traction. Narrow tires are a better option in deep snow. The tire acts similarly to a knife cutting through butter; the blade works best when using the narrow edge to push through the butter rather than the wide flat side of the blade.

Guess I got lucky then with the very slightly used set I picked up yesterday..........
195 65 15 conti's on Audi 6x15 ET45 5x112 steel wheels and audi wheel covers. About 50 miles on them and all for $100. My Avant will be happy.

Load rating's lower & will wear fast. I prefer bigger snows for potholes & icy-*** curbs.
Good way to beat the suspension, undersized tires and winter roads. Our roads rut 8"-10" deep ice. If you are going to hit speed, undersized snows are not the way to go either. If you have them, use them....but they are not the same as 205s in the A4 app, much worse. Forget them on a V6 A4.
