Did I blow up my ECU
#11
New Development!
Just for grins, I limped the car up to the local Autozone to see if they could read the ECU. They were able to pull the codes - 0562, low system voltage (probably set during the dead battery jump start debacle) and 1545 - Throttle position sensor.
I asked if he could reset the codes, he replied, "no, but you can", handed me the scanner and pointed to the erase button.
I cleared the codes, then sat in the parking lot for 10 minutes hoping to hear the sounds of a TBA, but never did. Upon restarting, the CEL came back on within about 10 seconds and it ran the same as before.
I now know that A) The ECU is not dead and B)My tools suck!
I'm going to clean the throttle body and get the codes reset. If it doesn't do the TBA, I'll search out a real VAG.
I appreciate everyone's help and am still open to suggestions.
