Default day one of my efk and fmic install (bww)

cut short by the lack of the 1 1/4" open ended wrench to get the fan off.

(all pics available at <a href="http://jcs.org/media/audi_a4/2004-03-13_efk_and_fmic_install/">http://jcs.org/media/audi_a4/2004-03-13_efk_and_fmic_install/</a>)

this morning, i went to my friend dave's house where i was going to do the installation since my realtor was doing an open house at my place during the day. dave didn't have all the tools i needed, so i ended up going back home later and doing it there.

here's eric's cars, at dave's house:

inside of his bmw 318 racecar.

i left dave's and went back home and got to work. i was really trying to avoid having to pull the bumper all the way off because one of the headlight washer pumps broke the last time i did and i didn't want to have to drain all of that washer fluid.

stock smic out, compared to my new fmic:

ac condenser off, radiator about to be pulled off:

i didn't want to jack the car up if i didn't have to, but my bucket to collect the coolant was too tall. dremel to the rescue!

stock fan vs. spp fan:

but i don't have a wrench to get the rest of the fan off, guess i should have read the instructions before taking the car apart:

<img src="http://jcs.org/.media/audi_a4/2004-03-13_efk_and_fmic_install/img_3684.jpg">

where i left off today:

and my reward:

tomorrow i should be able to pick up the right wrench, install the fan, put everything back together, and install the fmic.

Default 1 1/4" wrench? You don't need that......

you'll need a straight pin or a good screwdriver to lock the pulley in place, and an 8mm allen. It's usually pretty tight though, don't break your fingers!
