Cross country travel
I'm planning to drive across Canada from Halifax to Edmonton what are the major things I should do/check to my 2001 B5 before I make the trip ?

Check timing belt, Accessory Belt, Wheel bearing, CV boots, oil leaks etc…
If you maintained your regular maintenance, you should be ready to go. Highway driving is better on engines than city driving. Speeds are steady, oil pressure is high (good for engine), Transmission works less. You hardly do any breaking. (Less wear on pads)
It’s always good to top up your fluids though. ATF, OIL, Gear Oil etc.
Don’t forget Emergency car kit and warm blanket.
On highway 401, a couple of gas stations were taken down between Cornwall and Oshawa. Make sure to fill up if, you are less than half a tank in that section. I ran on fumes before barely making it to a station last summer.
