Default control arms (I got lucky)

I brought my 2000 A4 in today for the control arm recall. My car has 126k on the clock and it hasn't seen an Audi dealer since it's 60k service. I've done all the maintenance myself. My car's control arms started failing at about 110k miles but I've been putting off repairs. (I know, my bad) But anyway, I brought the car into the dealer today for the control arm recall and they replaced both the right and left arms for free no questions asked!

Default That's more or less teh whole point of a recall, no questions asked...

I know Audi have made things difficult WRT the sludge issue, but the control arm issue is much more of a safety issue.

Default you dont think they'll try to get out of replacing them for any reason?

not having documentation of dealer service, upgraded susepnsion, etc?

I think they will, but it's going to vary from dealer to dealer...

Default I hope they do that with us, our 00 30v goes in this week

With 70k on our car, the joints are descernably loose. Good for you.

Default I agree with Andy, it will vary from dealer to dealer, but this is a safety issue...

quite unlike the sludge issue, which was a maint issue.. Now that some lower front arms have actually failed, Audi NEEDS to replace them on cars with even the slightest hint of wear.

Default I have already replaced my control arms.

But I saved my old ones. Do you think it would help if I took those in and showed them? They are in horrible shape.

Default 15k miles on *my* failing control arms

I know what you're saying about this being a safety issue but I've been driving on mine for at least 15k miles. I'm glad I didn't find out how long they would actually last.
