Hp bump is roughly 10, but the improvement in midrange grunt is nice, even if the increase in peak numbers aren't lofty. For a normally aspirated car, it's a nice gain, and ricers everywhere spend more on less.
But on this forum, where you'll find chipped 1.8T's left, right, over and under, the gains are laughable, which may explain the "not worth it" responses. Your car, your money, your choice.
Supercharger is another animal altogether. You either want to go down that road or you don't. It's comparatively expensive, gives you a nice bump in power, and has a few drawbacks as well.

With that many miles, I would spend chip money elsewhere
Like getting the fuel injectors cleaned, basic tune up, oxygen sensor, etc... You will probably be happier that way.
I highly recommend RC Engineering for fuel injector cleaning. I have sent many injectors there over the years, the results are great. My stock injectors on a 1997 Eagle Talon with 160k miles were suppose to flow 235 cc/min, one of them was around 225 cc/min and the rest were dripping, leaking, and flowing down around 180-190 cc/min. After cleaning, they were within 1% of what they were suppose to flow. My fuel economy, idle quality, and top end power were instantly restored.

http://www.rceng.com/Fuel-Injector-Cleaning-P43C0.aspx</a
