Thought I had it all fixed, now ABS is pumping when accelerating, but no ABS/Brake light, not even flashes. And yes, the lights are working during start up (ie, during the ECU selftest).

I did STFA, and I did not find anyone with ABS false activation w/o ABS/Brake light. Any clue?

Here is the history:
1. ABS/Brake lit up
2. Pulled 2 DTCs, one is rear left sensor, one is somekind of a mystery switch
3. Replaced ABS controller, got the exact same DTC (good, at least I know the controller)
4. Replaced rear left sensor, clear DTCs
5. ABS/Brake light still on, got a new DTC, something about function switch.
6. Swap controllers, same DTC
7. Searched Bentley's diagnose procedure, reseated the J104/J106 connectors
8. ABS/Brake lights are off, ABS pumping when accelerating. WTF?

Thank you Audi, I see that German engineering is in a class by itself.

Sometimes errors are made during the electronic repair which can cause false actuation of valves.
