Ended up having to fab and improvise the intake and FMIC and quite a few other snags here and there (basically GT28RS is a bish to fit-flat out on the ATP externally WG'd mani setup). Long story short is 20 minutes into tuning the crank blew threw the oil pan. 113k one can assume (4:45 am when it happened.so visual inspection was tough on the side of the road) it was the wrist pins and rods that blew. It was kinda wild. Loud pop, smoke, flames (very very big flames about a 12' tall one and maybe 25' wide). I actually said hey I think the car is on fire to the guys in the car, they laughed and said no way. At that point they turn to see what I was seeing in the rear view and it was clear it was not good.
Good thing is the car was running like a raped ape. I am going to say since I was spinning the front wheels and how the car was pulling my dyno numbers would be well above 290-300 (maybe 330ish). The amount of STG3 cars in the crew and fellow stg3 drivers vag logging and tuning the ebc all agreed we are on to something pretty sick. To bad it's my DD and I guess I will be grabbing another car for daily use and hopefully tomorrow.
Pics and more info will come after some sleep, sunlight and it develops.

Sounds like you were running too much timing or lean.
Plenty of people have made 300+whp on quattro cars with the stock block without throwing rods. Seeing that you are fwd you would have been making less power at the crank and you also have less engine load.
I dont think the 115K miles on the motor had much to do with it either, at that point it would have been more like a bearing or a loss of compression.
