yeah, supposedly that method can lead to slave/master cylinder problems.

Default That isn't very good advice.

If the pedal goes to the floor, you'll most likely screw up the master cylinder, as others have pointed out. You really shouldn't extend the pedal beyond it's normal range of travel. The problem with this is when the bleeder valve is open, you no longer feel the normal resistance in the pedal, so you just have to memorize what the normal range of travel is. My rule of thumb is not to go beyond the halfway point of the pedal travel. Unfortunately, that means you have to go through many cycles of pumping the pedal, and opening/closing the bleeder valve.
