Default Bad ECU?? - - And ideas?

My problems started right after my heater core was replaced.
When I got my car back the heater wouldn't work but that seems like a problem with the controller because the temps read weird. The temp was set at 73.0f but now it reads 07.3f and at max it only goes to 12.6f. It's obviously messed up, plus the display is dying. The other issue is that the gear indicator and outside temp hasn't displayed since getting the car back.
Now for the really messed up part. About a week ago my car's dash displays (mph, rpm, gas level, temp, etc.) all failed and then came back while I was driving... Then last night as I was driving home I felt a big bang like I hit something but noticed that my ABS and Brake dash lights had blinked on and then off. This happened twice. Now today my car wouldn't start (wouldn't even turn over) for about 30 mins. I finally got it to start and then when I turned on the lights it died. Jump starts don't work.
Could this be the beginning of the end for ol' nelly? I can't help but think it is a bad ECU. Any thoughts?

What do you think he did wrong? I'm all for taking it back to the shop but I'd like to have an idea of what might have gone sour before going back in there.

Default well i would suggest looking at it this way

1) car is fine
2)take it in for work to get heater core replaced
3) car not fine

could be broken/crimpled/damaged/destroyed wiring

Default Sounds like a bad battery or power/gnd problems. That can cause such erratic behavior with the

electronics and worst case, no start condition.

2nd, likely suspect is battery short to ground, which is a real PITA!
