Default anyone replace a door latch mechanism?

my passenger door latch broke this week. New one was $118 from Clair, but after removing the door panel there's no way to take out the old latch without removing the whole inner frame, glass and all. Anyone here had to do this before?

This is the only way to keep the door closed...had to rig this up in the Philly airport parking lot. I love Audi reliability.

Hi to the old timers.

Default I have not had the pleasure on an A4, but I have on a Golf Mk4...

on that car, you end up removing all kinds of crap from the door... not a lot of fun.

How ya been?

Default good.

living in CT now a few miles away from WJM. Stage 3 kit still rocking along with 66K miles on the clock now, but as usual crap like this makes me want to push the car into a river.

Default yes, tis I

I left Minneapolis on the first of April...working for the same company but living in CT now working out of my home. I'd fix it myself over at WJM's house but I leave for MN Saturday morning and don't feel like leaving the car like this in another airport parking lot for almost a week.

Trust me...times like this I wish this car was loooong gone.

Default it's a PITA

the hardest part is the connecting rod. You don't have to remove the glass but be sure you secure it well. I used suction cups on each side of the glass with a wire which spanned over the door frame. I think I used 3 sets because I wanted to keep my fingers. I'm a pansy when it comes to loosing appendages. It took me about 3.5hrs. It gets trick after you unbolt the latch and try to swing it out with out taking *everything* apart. I'll try and find pics.
