Default 99 remote locking : std? or add-on

My 99 arrives without remote locking(and $190 credit). Dealer claims he just need the remote fobs, the receiver is allready in the car?? I would be surprised if Audi put reciever in all cars, minus the remote FOBs. Anybody have any info????

Receiver in all cars since 97, I think - all you'll need are fobs (but I thought 99s came with it standard...)

Having remote put on my '99 A4 for the $190 credit. Someone else on the board (in Boston area, I think ) also had this done. Receiver is indeed already in the car.

My 99 A4 avant arrived at dealer today. Dealer says released to production 9/17; build date 10/9.
Came with $190 credit and no remotes. Dealer says will code FOBs, so no real problem but why
is Audi screwing around like this?
