Default Anyone know how I could get a KEY made??

I just called the local Audi dealer and the service guy told me that unless there is a key to copy, it would have to be made at the factory by VIN and it would take about a week or so to ship. Obviously I can't sit around a week without a car.

A few hours ago I called AAA and they told me that a locksmith would be able to make a key for my car and the locksmith is just waiting on "codes" or something from the Audi dealer (I'm assuming in Beverly Hills where it was originially purchased). Keep in mind I live in OR.

The locksmith knows I have no key and he is planning on showing up at my house at cutting a new one. I'm not sure on how this works or anything or even if it's possible. I requested one of the simple keys, not the switchblade cuz they were going to charge me 250 for it! With that key will I be able to operate my car?? I've only ever had one switchblade key.

Thanks for any help guys.

Default I don't know how the locksmith will make the key, but if he does somehow

it will work without programming.

I take it you have another remote for the keyless entry?

Default This was my ONLY key and only remote...

If he can cut it, it should work without any problems I'm assuming. There were many times where my remote didn't even have batteries and I could still unlock the doors and drive, just not set the alarm with the remote.

I believe the locksmith might be waiting on codes on how to actually cut the key. Would that make sense?

Default thats why you should have a playdoo imprint of you key available

of both sides. then get some dental material to make a new key that can be operated with a ring attached to it.

i hope you read this before it got deleted.

Default get a non fob key made and find a local good locksmith that is able cut the keys with his diamond

tipped machine.

i got my blanks on ebay and went to our local connection at a dealer to have them cut. for all other cars that we owned i used to have a spare key hidden underneath the car so i always had a spare directly with it when needed but never used them.

Default if you dont have a key for him to duplicate he would maybe be able to request the "codes"

or parameters, cutting decimals to cut a new one. that would make sense but to answer your question just ask him what he is waiting on

Default HOORAY! Key just arrived, I guess the whole problem was that they had to contact the stealership tha

t the car was purchased at... They had to get authorization from Audi of NA.... Well we've been waiting since 8:30 this morning. It is now 3:50 and it just arrived. 100 bucks for the cheap *** key and it doesn't even have the interlocking rings on it (guess that's a good thing since that's probably how they found my car to steal it in the first place)...

Now I'm gonna fly around the city and do all the **** that I had planned today. PEACE.

you'll need two keys to make a remote work again.
