Any reason that would cause uneven brake pad wear...(more)
from one side to the other? Changed out my brake pads tonight and the right front pads are worn all the way to the metal, while the left front pads still have about 5-7mm left. The rotor on the right side is slightly scratched because of this, but still even surfaced throughout the circumference. Is my alignment off? That's the only thing I can think of that would cause this. Sorry no pics. TIA

Piston hanging up
When you release the brakes, the piston is not compressing back into the caliper; it's still applying the brakes. Might try this.
First, clean the piston area with brake cleaning spray. Then, install, the worn pads. Reinstall the caliper. Now get into the car and pump the brakes unitl the pedal is firm. Use ONLY short/aprtial pumps and several of them; DON'T pump the pedal to the floor. Keep doing this till the pedal is firm indicating the piston is extended and has applied the brake. Now, remove the caliper and pads and clean the piston and exposed piston cylidnerical area. If the sides of the piston look dirty/rusty, try cleaning it with a fine wire brush. Reinstall the worn pads and caliper and pump the brake again. Remove the caliper and pads and clean the piston again. Repeat this 2-3 times. Then install new pads on left and right side of the car and go out and bed in teh brakes.
After a few days test the brake temperature. After a mild drive with no/little brake use, pull over and stop, then feel each front wheel. If the right one is noticeably hotter than the left it means the brakes are hanging up and you need a caliepr repair or replacement.
