Default Amsoil + time/miles vs. M 1

I have some amsoil on the way, it is just taking a while, (mainly because my c/c was denied, because I lost my wallet and cancelled all my c/c's so now I must send in a check) should I just hold out, or should I just get some M1 to tide me over?

4940 miles on current oil, 5K is the interval.

Default i wouldn't worry about it....

the M1 should last longer than 5000mi anyways. Just check the oil level and add some if necessary. if you get up to 7000+ miles, then i'd think about changing it.

Default wait for the Amsoil. you'll be fine for another 500-1k.

If it makes you feel any better, I have 4300 miles on my currently M1 0w40. And, I'll be driving close to 500 miles to get to MidOhio tomorrow and then 2 days on the track, then 500 back.

I'll probably have 5500 miles total on it (6 track days + 2300 miles of highway travel to/from 3 track events) before I change it.

I'm going to have this oil tested to see how it compares to my last M1 test.

Default

Most oil analysis shows 7-8K intervals on sythetic are perfectly fine.

Default What's wrong with M1?

Didn't someone recently post an article here that showed Amsoil coming out pretty consistently in the middle or bottom of various tests? I can't seem to find it in the archives.

Mobil 1 is at LEAST as good as Amsoil, more readily available, and cheaper.

Default oh yeah, sorry.

obviously, you didn't tell me with enough force, as I forgot.

I will next time, which will probably be next week after pulling the oil after MidOhio.
