I must have missed that the first time. Assuming an average 1.8T is a '99, that's only about 6,000 miles per year for 75,000 miles. I'd say there aren't a whole lot of 1.8T owners on this board with 75,000 or less miles, most are somewhere around 150,000.

my 99 1.8t which now belongs a neighbor girl has 185k on it, going strong original turbo.
I looked at a 2000 that had 244k on it it was chipped lowered etc... but it needed a crank sensor so it didn't run, it still had good compression but at 244k just to many miles for me! but I have seen several with 189-210k running strong. But I am currently rebuilding a 2001 that only has 63k on it. It has a sludge problem, it was a off lease car that did not get synthetic oil changes.

Just shy of 120,000 on my 2001 1.8t. Was in for a couple things, new control arms, wheel bearings and the second timing belt change. Synthetic oil since first change and it is changed every 10k.

I've got 178,000 on my 98.5 A4 1.8T Quattro. Had 73,000 on it when i bought it about 5 years ago. Seems to be going strong still, although I'm feeling the need to get the engine checked out soon, as its a bit noisy these days.
Repairs/preventative maintenance so far:
3 or 4 wheel bearings
timing belt/water pump twice
all control arms/tie rod ends on the front wheels twice
oil cooler
couple of cv axles/boots.
recently had to have the flexpipe and a hanger replaced on my stock exhaust
thats about it.

First off saying that implies that there are numerous examples of high mileage A4's on the road today, which is not the case. Second, the earlier models were the older 12 valve V6 and it's engine reliability does not necessarily translate to the newer 30 valve V6, let alone the 1.8T's turbo inline 4, which started as a MY '97 car. There aren't a whole lot of 1.8T owners on this board with over 75,000 miles, let alone 300,000 miles. If you have information regarding the reliability of A4's in general, please share it with us, but if not, please don't generalize based on assumptions that there MUST be some high mileage examples out there.
Personally, I think the A4 1.8T will be reliable for a long time. Audi's engines (including turbos) and drivetrains (especially Quattro). Have traditionally been very reliable. Also, the 1.8T is based on VW/Audi's venerable 1.8 i4 which has proven to be quite relieble, in other configurations. It's too early to say anything about the A4's long term reliability, but based on what I've seen, it should be good. At least, I hope it will, because I'm planning on keeping mine well past 100,000 miles.<p>Regards,
Rodney
