'99 Avant Head Replacement (Adapter)
Hi guys -
I was going to post this in the audio forum, but it seems pretty dead over there so I came here.
'99 A4, non-Bose Concert head unit with 6-disc changer. Over the weekend I installed a Blaupunkt New Orleans(http://www.crutchfield.com/S-v3OlbAU...eans-MP58.html). It went in completely smoothly - Blaupunkt uses standard euro-DIN wiring in back, so all the factory wiring plugged right into the Blaupunkt. The only modification I had to make was swapping the ignition 12v and battery 12v - the Audi had it backwards. The pre-outs worked right off with the rear speakers & sub, and it even has a Gala input, even, though I haven't messed with it.
I neglected to check on the K line, so it may have to come back out, but other than that it works great.
That said, when I ordered the stuff from Crutchfield, they sent me a Scosche adapter to fill in the extra width of the dash. It fits VERY poorly - it's several mm too tall, and even after modifying it with a file it's not quite right. It also prevents the faceplate from swinging down - I will never use the CD player, but I might like to remove the faceplate now and then. Does anyone knows whether the Metra 99-9100 or 99-9103 is a better fit? Any other options?
