Can you elaborate a little more on this cable? Where is it/how is it adjusted?

that's been under recall for sometime now.

and it can be adjusted. With the car in the air if you go to the drivers side of the transmission about where the tranny mount is you will see a cable coming from the shifter box and bolting to the trans. There are two bolts that hold a bracket attached to the cable to the transmission. If you have a 2.8l one of the bolts doubles as an exhaust bracket. All you do is loosen the two bolts and slide the bracket a small amount in the desired direction and tighten the bolts back down.
I don't think that it would all of the sudden go out of adjustment.
Nate is right to say there have been many, many ignition switch failures and you should definitely check that out.

But would the ignition switch prevent the tranny from going into Park?

It's jammed and broke. Trust me on this, I went through it myself.

Neutral safety switch maybe.

Hi I now this is old post,(found this in search of a answer)but Have the sam problem. Will not go into park. Tried to use my hand directly on the grarbox link,bypassing the cable. And get all the gears except park. Any ideas?
