Default Chorus on 99 A4

Hello there all,
I have a chorus audio system, and the volume **** went crazy..if i try to increase the volume by one unit it goes all the way up (deafining volume) or can go to mute.
Any one had this problem, what did they do?
Thanx in advance...
P.S. I have asked for advice before here and you guys were most helpfull..its nice to see a healthy forum that is still active.

No actually i didnt. I think its a malfunctioing resistor, so this wont help i think. I was at the dealer and he said a new unit will cost around 1000$'s (Now thats a lot of moeny...)
Another option (which by the way i found on the unit manuals that came with the car) is that they can replace it with an as-new unit for around couple hundred $'s...
but i dont want an as new unit, i want to fix my unit...

Default

i fixed this at a electronist with hundreds of cassette/cd/dvd/navi units in his shop lol. Also found a used one with cd changer imput for around 50$.

He opened it and did something that took 2hours, when i came back, i never had the problem again. He said something about a rubber inside getting used over time and dilating and stuff... anyway try that if your out of options. He even had the keys to pull it out.

gl with it
