Default Are 96 and 97 a4's really a wack?
Hey guys, Im thinking about buying an a4 either 96 or 97, but i heard that they have alot of problems with trannies and so on... Is this really true? How many people that have 96-97 a4's have had problems with their cars?

I know a few people, and i've read reviews on edmunds.com But i just checked and not that many people with 96 models have problems. But check it out www.edmunds.com then go to used>audi>96>a4>non quattro>raiting

i had front seal on tranny go. covered under warranty.

Default I have a '97 with 87K miles. No major issues except for control arms....
but that's not MY specific.

Default So would you guys say that if I buy a 96 a4 2.6 it should hold up?
Any suggestions?

Default I had a 96 - solid.
No problems other than normal maintenance. Get an extended warranty if you're concerned about those issues.
