2004 - Death of the B5 forums?
#11
I've made a few New Year's resolutions
1. Unless the post is from a long time forum denizen, I shall no longer click on ANY posts that have as a subject, Re: followed by a quote of the post to which it responds. Special dispensation is granted to Smokin' who has a nasty habit of leaving the Re: at the beginning of ALL his posts.
2. Never answer a plea for help from Eug or any user with a user name > Quicksilver1 as the clones (2,3,4,5,6, 7.....) not only seem to lack originality but are either rude, unappreciative, dumber than a box of rocks or just plain argumentative.
3. Stop banging myself in the forehead with a ballpeen hammer whenever I slip in my dedication to living up to #1 and #2.
4. Never link to my own post in the same thread.
Happy New Year Raj ...

You know where I stand on this issue.
I only stick around for one reason, and if Alex ever gets his project running...
This place is nothing like it was when I joined. It really started to change in late 2002/2003 when a lot of regulars dissapeared. This year the decline has been enormous.

We were part of a special thing; the birth of this community...
Awfully special in that way. I will never, ever make the friends on the Miata boards that i did here.
I remember how eagerly i read chip reviews, or the raging debates of Ko4 v. GT28s...man that was good stuff. I made an effort to contribute because i felt i got so much from this place.
I do miss lots of the regulars, but i think alot of us lurk...i know i do check this board every couple of days, at least, and off-topic in the evenings.
I gotta call you soon, tonight i will be...ahem...otherwise engaged
Cheers,
Sameer

thats upsetting to hear. I wish I had found this place sooner, sounds like it was a lot more fun.
I'm fairly new, I've been here for around a year and still think of it as one of the best forums out there, but mainly due to just the amount of people on it.

You're entirely missing my point.
Your interpretation is hell bent on being offended, and I can't really change that.
My point was that this forum is not the place it once was. People's motivations for being here have changed, and the manner in which they seek information has changed. Furthermore, the fact that you perceive this as an online forum with virtual names is a perfect example of how things have changed. I've met a fair number of people from these forums...both locals, and no-so-locals. Even people that only know me in the virtual sense are on a first name basis with me.
The forum is all yours. I'm tired of having this discussion. Good luck with your car and your travels.
