Default 2001 A4 1.8T Trunk Relase?

Power locks no longer work, but I need to get into my trunk. Not to mention if I get a flat. Is there a trunk release for this model?

their could be a trunk release either on the drivers door piller, or maybe in the arm rest? I forget the different years.....
but also the rear seats may fold down. I assume the trunk is locked? my buddy has a 99 and it stays locked, I was able to get in the trunk by turning the key in just the right spot and pushing in on the button.
if you go in through the back seat you can remove the liner on the lid and open manually, just grab the lever by hand

There is no trunk lever.

To open the trunk you have to either use the button on the key fob or put the key in the slot and turn to unlock it and then push the button in to open it manunally.

This is funny but not so funny. Usually if you unlock all the doors and then push on the silver round trunk lock cylinder it will open. In your case, the power locks don't work. If you put your key in the silver round trunk lock cylinder and turn the key all the way to the left and remove the key. Then push on this lock cylnder with your thumb and lift the trunk, this will work.

Default Duh.....More info

Didn't give all the info. I've lost both master keys. I only have the valet key. Seats will split down, I am willing to cut inside liner, break cylinder, whatever EXCEPT spend $325 for a new key.

I dont know what to tell you.. How do you start the car with the vallet key? I thought the vallet key only opens doors.

I just installed a safety release on the trunk lid today just in case someone got stuck in there. I have two small kids and didn't want any practical jokes gone bad ever happening.

If you are stuck with the trunk lid shut then you will have to work from the inside. It's very obvious once you have the trunk lid cover off so the first thing you need to do is climb in the trunk via the rear seats. You'll need a flashlight. Remove the safety triangle. There are two bolts holding the holder on. Then remove the two screws holding the handle on. Then there are about 7 or 8 felt covered screws that need to come off. Your trunk lid liner should now slide off.

Now that the liner is off, you will notice the locking mechanism with levers leading from the push button to the lock. Push the mechanism towards the passenger's side and the trunk should pop. Push up and you will see daylight. I added a piece of nylon string to the lock release mechanism and put a hole in the trunk lid liner so that it can be accessed now without having to remove the liner. Good luck.

I just opened my trunk from the inside following your guidelines. It took me no more than 10' all together ! I've been scouring the net for infos about it but very few forums mentioned it. Can't believe Audi doesn't say anything about that. Thanks again.

Im not sure where your getting 375$ for a new key, but they cost 57$ list price for a master key thats just a normal blade key no remote. It would be like half an hour labor for a dealer to do if your car even has immobilizer. You can buy a key half for the fob from the dealer for 78$ list, and then buy a remote off ebay for like 25$, and then have a key with remote. Its not as expensive or complicated as your making out to be lol.
