Power difference between '00 and '01 1.8l
I was considering a 2000 A4 avant, but I see that the 2001 model with all the same specs is rated at +20 HP over the 2000 year model. Where is that extra 20 hp coming from?

Would adding a GIAC chip to the earlier model bring it up to or past the benefit of the vvt or the boost difference? Wouldnt the chip fix or improve the boost in the earlier car?

You can upgrade all of them, a 2001 with a chip is potentially faster than a 2000 with a chip.
