01 A4 1.8TQMS tranny is SHOT @ 60K
crunch crunch grind grind when I *try* to release the clutch.
Looks like it's time for a 2.8QM tranny (better 5th gear ratio for cruising)
Anybody know if having a shop rebuild the tranny is a feasible solution, or just a waste of time & money?

I've had a fractured pressure plate before and it would rattle horribly at idle
actually, I only let it run for a second or two.
This time, it will idle fine and I can even let the clutch out while it's in neutral, but not in gear.
This is already my 2nd transmission. the first one went at ~29K or 42K I can't remember.
